As far as fixing goes, there should be a metric nut inside the plastic airbox door. Change it if it is stripped out. For the other side, epoxying on a plastic tab should work fine. You will likely end up filing one part or the other, but that is not too bad.
For your muffler, go to your local bike chop shop and get a used hd dyna muffler. Shouldn't be more than half the cost of a Savage muffler.
